The Corrosive Codex corrosive coin system is tied to the Altar of Corrosion and its outdoor progression loop. Coins are used for talent upgrades, selected cosmetics, and the Caustic Venomfang mount. They are not the same resource as Corrosive Souls, which unlock the equippable powers associated with the Codex.

This distinction matters from the beginning. Players who want stronger outdoor performance should focus on Spirit Corrosions and Altar talents. Players building the Codex collection should farm Souls through events and Delves instead. Keeping these goals separate makes your weekly planning much clearer.

The Altar becomes useful only after completing its introductory quest chain. The route begins in the Coiled Isle and leads through the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Completing the chain also introduces Er'inye, the NPC who converts Coins into Spirit Corrosions through the repeatable Corrode Spirit option.

Use the following order to avoid unnecessary travel and begin your upgrade path as soon as possible.

The Altar talent tree contains 24 talents. You can eventually unlock the full tree, so the main decision is not whether a talent is permanently missable. The important choice is which route delivers better farming efficiency first.

The most reliable repeatable route combines Temple Patrols with public events, rare enemies, and treasure. Patrols provide a predictable baseline, while events create larger bursts of Coins. Standard enemies can contribute additional drops, but isolated mob grinding is generally less efficient than rotating between active objectives.

Temple Patrols are especially useful for solo players. Three patrols become active on a repeating schedule, allowing you to create a compact loop inside the Vaults. The baseline reward is approximately 20 Coins per patrol, or roughly 60 Coins every 10 minutes before income bonuses and enemy drops are included.

The first weekly completion of the Vaults Zone Event is another high-value objective. It awards approximately 1,000 Corrosive Coins, making it a priority after the weekly reset.

A practical farming rotation looks like this:

1. Complete the weekly Zone Event.
2. Check for Temple Incursions or Temple Strikes.
3. Run active Temple Patrols.
4. Defeat nearby rare enemies and collect treasure.
5. Return to patrols while waiting for the next event.
6. Convert Coins into Spirit Corrosions when you have a clear talent target.

The Altar’s 24 talents are designed as a complete progression tree, but some choices provide value sooner than others. The Corrosive Spirit passives should usually shape your first route because they increase Coin income. Venomous Hunt is also a strong early objective because it helps identify Venom Cursed enemies and improves your awareness of valuable targets.

After the income passives are active, fill the branches opened by Discoveries and choose situational talents based on the content you play most often.

Corrosive Codex Powers use Corrosive Souls rather than Coins. Most powers interact with Poison, so a Poison applicator and a strong Poison-reactive effect form a practical starting combination. At eight unlocked powers, a second active power slot becomes available, creating an important collection milestone.

Discoveries and Renown provide free Spirit Corrosions. Four Discoveries in the Vaults award one each, while two additional Spirit Corrosions come from Zul'jarra's Forces Renown milestones. Collecting these rewards before heavy Coin conversion reduces the amount of farming required.

Use a staged plan rather than trying to complete every objective at once. The best early target is a stronger Coin engine, followed by the powers that support your preferred outdoor or Delve playstyle. Cosmetics become more attractive after the Altar’s income bonuses are established.

The Caustic Venomfang mount costs 10,000 Corrosive Coins. A patrol-only strategy can require a lengthy investment, while income bonuses, weekly rewards, and public events shorten the process. Treat the mount as a long-term objective rather than the first purchase after unlocking the Altar.
